If you know me well then you know my favorite place in the world to travel to is Maui. My Aunt Cin first showed my family and I Maui 10 years ago and it’s held a special place in our hearts since.
Here are my top 5 travel tips when visiting this heaven on earth.
TIP ONE
My favorite place to watch them is on Merriman’s patio @merrimansmaui at Kapalua Bay Beach!
TIP TWO
Tourists don’t know about this one.
It’s the most magical hidden beach called Slaughterhouse beach.
It’s hard to find but when you do park roadside, go early, and bring food for the day.
TIP THREE
My favorite activities are exploring the cutest Hawaiian town – Lahaina, shopping in Whaler’s village, morning hikes/trails in Kapalua, zip lining through the island’s lush vegetation, helicopters over waterfalls, taking surf lessons, whale watching boat trips, and taking a catamaran to the private island of Lanai.
TIP FOUR
My favorite restaurant is HANDS DOWN is Mama’s Fish House. It’s even worth googling right now to see what I’m talking about.
I also love the farm to table at PacificO, toes in the sand at Hula Grill, and the Hawaiian staple Duke’s.
Oh! And you can’t forget to do a Luau (Feast of Lele) – endless food & drinks.
TIP FIVE
Lastly, soak up the Hawaiian culture when there.
Always order Hawaiian staples like the freshest ahi poke, macadamia everything from crusted fish to cookie sandwiches, Hula pie, Mai Tais, buy the best natural skin/hair products made with coconut oil and other island superfoods, and stop at all the fresh fruit stands.
As my Aunt Cin taught us, “A Hui Hou” (until we meet again) Maui.
