Don't miss @melmondigo's 5 tips to make your trip to the Big Apple worthwhile!
Av Edvin BrobeckIt’s no secret that my favorite city in the world is New York. I love it so much that I made it my permanent home. Something about the city’s vibe that casts a spell on you.
But with everything that’s going on right now, exploring has been put on a temporary pause and staying at home has become the new normal.
I’d like to think of it as a long term staycation. When all this is over and you plan to visit NYC, here are my top 5 tips to make your trip more worthwhile.
By @melmondigo
TIP ONE
We all know how expensive NY can be.
With the traffic jam, Uber rides can eat up a chunk off of your budget. If you’re staying here a few days, get a weekly metrocard pass for only $33. That’s 1 full week of unlimited subway rides.
You won’t have to worry if you missed a stop or got lost for that matter.
TIP TWO
Manhattan is not the only option.
Most of the cheaper accommodations in the city are situated far from the city. Brooklyn would have to be my favorite.
As long as you have a train station nearby you’re all good.
TIP THREE
The weather in NY can be of the extremes. Depending on the season, it can be extremely hot or extremely cold.
It is vital to do a weather check so you can pack accordingly.
TIP FOUR
NY is full of tourists. Expect all of them to be flocking to the famous tourist spots with a camera in hand.
If you want to take good photos without a family of 5 in your background, be early.
TIP FIVE
There is no limit to the number of good restaurants in NY.
As diverse as it’s people, the diversity of food is apparent too. In this case, make Yelp your best friend.
Halal guys on West 53rd & 6th, cheesecake at Junior’s, mini donuts from Doughnuterry located at The Plaza food hall, cheeseburger at the South Brooklyn Foundry; these are a few of my favorites.
I can go on and on but that would call for a 5 page back to back write up…
