Augusta, Georgia: A Staycation Guide

Your Staycation Guide to Augusta by @castophoto

There is so much beauty in this world, how could we narrow down one place that was the most meaningful to us? In all of our adventures there is one city always beckoning us to come home. We don’t know if it’s the sweet tea, the street lights with southern accents, or southern hospitality but there sure is no place like it.

TIP ONE

Our favorite place to grab breakfast…

…is Sheilas, who has the best doughy pastries followed by coffee at Ubora and a long walk along the riverfront.

I can’t resist a unique find so my favorite shops are Singing Hill Antiques, Savvy Shopper, and of course Final Cut for the ultimate treasure hunt.

TIP THREE

Our favorite restaurant is…

Hands down it’s Abel Brown followed by dessert at Boll Weevil, because whats a night out without a decadent homemade slice of cheesecake?

We also love Mexican and my ideal comfort food can be found at El Rey.

TIP TWO

My favorite place to walk is…

Hammonds Ferry on the riverfront, the sunsets are always beautiful and the rows of houses remind us of Charleston.

Unique garden spaces throughout the year are one of the many reasons Augusta is aptly coined “The Garden City”.

TIP FOUR

Places to go…

When visiting you have to check out Hopelands Gardens, Savannah Rapids, and Downtown.

Between long walks under massive southern oaks dripping in Spanish moss, kayaking on the river, or popping into shops downtown you truly can’t go wrong.

TIP FIVE

What is the best time to visit Augusta?

Classic Map Art Poster of North Augusta

The best time to visit Augusta is in the spring, when the trees are in full bloom and the azaleas are exploding with color. At the end of March and beginning of April there is truly no place I would rather be.

The Masters got it right, and this is the time most people visit so plan ahead!
